HPLC in analytical chemistry

HPLC, the working horse of liquid chemistry analysis.

HPLC, a given alround analytical method in every laboratories

Virtually, any substance soluble in water or an HPLC-compatible organic solvent can be determinated or quantified under HPLC. Once the method conditions are set up, running new samples is strait forward.

Also, today, is HPLC the dominant method in pharmaceutical analysis. It is the most versatile technique for quickly analyzing large numbers of different samples: checking purity in the development of drugs and quality assurance in the process of quality control of final products.

The strength of HPLC in analytical separations compared to other methods

HPLC can resolve a large number of highly similar substances, i.e. only a singe side-group differentiating two, or more, coumpounds from each other, or two enantiomers, in a short time. No other method can do this and at the same time provide the quantitative and qualitative information that HPLC does.
