No pressure limits — freedom to switch solvents
User-friendliness, as we see it, is the ability to perform method development without being restricted by various parameters. One well-known restriction for coated polysaccharide phases is the general pressure limit over the bed. Kromasil AmyCoat withstands flow rates generating back-pressure drops up to 400 bar — which is about the limit for most HPLC systems. This makes it possible to run analytical chromatography a lot faster.
From a stability perspective, you can run Kromasil AmyCoat using compatible normal, polar organic mobile phases. Switching between these mobile phases will not lead to any degradation in performance. In other words: no need for solvent-dedicated columns.

In order to test the stability of the phase the chromatographic performance was evaluated before
and after a test sequence mixing high flow rate conditions and mobile phase switches (according to
the table).
As shown in the figure below, the column efficiency was maintained even after the harsh
conditions of the sequence.
