The use of HPLC in the development stage

Various separation methods are available for the production of pharmaceutical drugs, such as crystallization, distillation, and, of course, HPLC. Since time is such a critical factor in the development stage, HPLC is usually the method of choice, even if a different technique is finally used for production. This is due to the fact that an efficient HPLC separation, producing the desired amount of material, can usually be set up in a shorter time compared to the alternative methods, and productivity is high.
