Kromasil wettable phase for analysis and prep HPLC
Kromasil C18(w) is a wettable HPLC phase specifically engineered for bio-separations as well as food and beverage analysis. The focus of this phase is for the analysis and purification of key biomolecules under initially aqueous conditions.
Kromasil C18(w) is part of the Kromasil Classic portfolio of perfectly spherical, totally porous silica media with 100 Å pore size. The phase, with its polar embedded end-capping, has different characteristics than the classic Kromasil C18, as is shown in the comparing Tanaka diagram. This allows for separations and analysis of samples that are naturally provided in aqueous conditions. The new wettable phase enables new selectivity and resolution opportunities to isolate impurities and enrich samples containing compounds such as amino acids and peptides. The chromatography can be run under RP conditions or in fully aqueous conditions if required.
The Kromasil wettable phase is now supplied in both 5 and 10 µm particles. Columns are available from 4.6 to 21.2 mm ID. The larger particles are also available as bulk for packing in DAC systems – even repeatedly, as the well-known mechanical stability of Kromasil packing media is also valid for this material.
Independently, if you work with analysis, development or screening, in pilot facilities or manufacturing, the flexibility and alternative selectivity offered by Kromasil C18(w) can be of significant benefit for your facility in view of the wider spectrum of polar compounds that are currently investigated and purified in pharma and biotechnology companies.

With more than 30 years in the market place, the Kromasil product line is made by the Separation Products group, or the Kromasil team, a group of people with skills in a wide range of areas. We are dedicated to our mission to develop outstanding packing materials for HPLC/SFC/SMB, to improve efficiency and decrease costs in your separation step.
When the first Kromasil silica-based packing materials were introduced in the market, they greatly improved the effectiveness of liquid chromatography. What made the new packing material so unique was the combination of high pore volume and surface area, together with a very high mechanical stability. Today this combination of properties is still unmatched by other chromatography packings on the market.
